FW18 Collection DetailsBrandon Maxwell’s Fall Winter 2018 collection showcased a tone of relaxed glamour all while maintaining the house’s core of precise tailoring and exquisite construction. The brand expanded upon it’s knitwear, outerwear, accessories and denim categories in addition to emblematic embroideries and embellishments. A prominent motif this season was the pineapple, a symbol personal to Brandon as it was the hallmark of his mother's stationary. It was featured opulently in tonal, monochromatic pineapple sequin embroideries and subtly in pineapple bandana jacquard prints of black and red. Layering was a major component for this fall collection, not only in the ensembles, but in the garments themselves: a satin tie finished the bottom of a crepe top, the red shearling bomber jacket had a collar of pink fur and lining of red leather and then there was the prominence of pleating throughout the collection that is quite literally a layer in and of itself. Boucle knit pants, ribbed knit mini dresses and long giselle knit sweaters presented ease for day to evening offerings. Day wear expanded, but not at the sacrifice of evening wear where long evergreen striped sequined dresses, lime velvet draped gowns and embellished tulle ball skirts nearly stopped the show. The drama continued with the accessories which ranged from Swarovski crystal and tortoise shell jewelry to clutches and totes.
The accessories, which were first introduced in Spring Summer 2018, expanded into a variety of offerings for Fall. Swarovski crystal pineapple earrings, knot hoops and knot bracelets sparkled alongside The Vice Bag, a clutch that came out in black velvet, pink satin and embellished beading, which included a gold closure etched with a "B.”
The favorite accessories of the evening were a Swarovski crystal pineapple lighter case and a gold lighter case, which were worn hanging across the body on delicate chains.
